Connect - Children
Our children’s worship services at CHS help children to connect to God and His Church.
A Wee Worship Service is offered at 8:30am and 11:00 am for preschool children ages 3and older through Kindergarten. During this time, children hear the daily lesson as a story, praise God through song, prayer, and create a hands-on way of remembering the key point.
During the 11:00am adult service, children meet for Kids’ Praise - a worship service for children first through fourth grades. They lift their voices in praise (sometimes loud enough to wake the “Leroy’s and Margaret’s” upstairs.) Then, they hear the Bible lesson in a way that engages them. Next, small groups meet to share prayer requests and pray for each other, give an offering, and discuss the lesson’s main point. Finally, they demonstrate that knowledge through a group skit, poster, artistic creation, or other method. Children join their parents in the sanctuary to worship through the Lord’s Supper or to receive a blessing.
Fellowship opportunities are also available for children to connect to each other. These include:
Vacation Bible School – a week-long, active summer learning experience for children and their neighborhood friends. Children meet in a small group with a teen/adult crew leader to participate in worship and learning a memory verse. They attend five centers that meet their various learning styles: skits, recreation, crafts, refreshments, and missions.
Children’s Camp – a week-long summer camp experience for completed 3rd through 6th graders, at the Master’s Inn in Alta Vista, VA where children can focus on the truth of the Bible and enjoy outdoor recreation while building relationships with other Christian children.
Club 56 Sunday Night – a great opportunity for “tweens” to focus on the “dares” of Jesus (i.e. store up your treasure in heaven.) Club meets from 5:30 – 6:30pm, and a pizza dinner follows from 6:30 – 7:00pm.
