Quigg Lawrence
Rector / Senior Pastor
540-772-4915 x20
quiggL@coths.org
|
Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. Quigg is a twin and was born again in 1980 after a fellow surfer, Mo Gill, shared his own conversion to Jesus Christ. Mo gave Quigg a copy of Basic Christianity. That fine book by John Stott plus a Children's Bible connected the dots and the Gospel came into focus.
Quigg married the lovely Annette Fleet Lawrence in 1986. Annette has an amazing love for children and is a quiet spirit with a surprising sense of humor!
Quigg attended four or five colleges (depending on how you count!) and graduated with a doctorate from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
Quigg is an Eagle Scout, hosts a high school sports show on Cox Cable and was recently selected to be a Blue and Gold Officer for the United States Naval Academy. In his days off, Quigg enjoys photography, bluegrass, hunting, web surfing and any sport where you get to hit something!
Quigg's favorite Bible verses are Titus 3:5 and John 10:10.

Angela Natt
Student Ministry
772-4915
Angelan@coths.org
|
Angela Natt joined the Church of the Holy Spirit staff in May of 2003 as the Associate Pastor to Students. Growing up as a pastor’s child, Angela has seen a lifestyle of service within the church modeled for her and has found great joy in the ability to serve the body of Christ at CHS. Graduating from James Madison University in 2001 with a media writing degree, Angela felt the call to full time ministry in college while serving with the ministry of Young Life. As she prayerfully sought God’s leading, the Lord opened the door for her to join the student ministry staff at CHS. Angela is passionate about discipling young women and watching them grow and mature in their faith, and tends to have a lot of fun while doing it! Angela is married to her high school sweetheart, Robert.

Lynne Pope
Children's Ministry
772-4915 x24
lynnep@coths.org
|
When you look in the dictionary for the words "creative" and "enthusiastic," you will see the same picture next to each - - Lynne Pope's. She’s been in elementary school for 44 years as: a student, a general ed and gifted center teacher, a district-wide resource teacher, and a principal. Her passion for children was recognized when she received the National PTA’s Advocates for Children award.
Lynne is the proud mother of Christie and Laura. Her beloved husband, Jeff, has been with the Lord since 1996.
In her "spare" time, Lynne has been known to fly airplanes, raft the Colorado River, hike Mt. Everest...well, at least Old Rag Mountain.... and chase Quigg out of her deer feeding garden! She was recently selected as the president-elect of the Board of Directors for the Science Museum of Western Virginia.

Lynne Florin
Children's Ministry
772-4915
lynnef@coths.org
|
“Flo,” as she’s know around the office, has been a member of Church of the Holy Spirit since 1996, just two years after her transforming encounter with Christ! After serving as a volunteer Nursery Director and on Children’s Council for six years, God called Lynne into full-time ministry with CHS kids in 2003. Partly because of her experience as a mother of preschoolers before Jesus, Lynne has a real calling to encourage and mentor young Moms through the CHS Mom2Mom program.
Married to husband Larry for 26 years, they are parents of Cameron, a junior at Faith Christian, and Emma, a sophomore at North Cross.
They live in the middle of nowhere on Bent Mountain (a far cry from suburban NJ where they grew up and met) with their exceptionally spoiled and goofy hound dog Spott.

Becky Smith
Worship Arts
|
Becky is a native of the Roanoke Valley. After her husband’s sudden death in October of 2004, she felt called to join the staff of Church of the Holy Spirit as the Worship Arts Minister. She was born and raised in a musical family where singing and playing instruments was a regular occurrence and a great passion. Loving the lord and learning about Him is her greatest joy; worshipping Him and leading others to do so, is an awesome privilege. Becky has two daughters, Ashley and Brooke, one son, Mitchell, and one granddaughter, Skye.

Susan Craft
Administrator
772-4915
susanc@coths.org
|
Susan comes to us via Houston, Texas. While a student at Hollins University, her daughter worshipped at Church of the Holy Spirit and when Susan visited from Houston, she would worship with here as well. Susan’s daughter and son-in-law and their 3 children now attend our church plant, Orchard Hills. Susan’s married son practices law in Houston and resists her pleas to sit for the Virginia Bar.
Susan’s experience as a small business owner and technical writer and her gift of administration equipped her for the various ways she serves the staff and the body.

Kim Worrell
Executive Assistant to the Rector
772-4915
kimw@coths.org
|
An Army wife and mother of four, Kim was born in Roanoke but has enjoyed a literal opportunity to “go and teach all nations” due to her family’s military lifestyle. Her husband of 27 years, “the Colonel” Hal, now commutes to VMI. They delight in four gifts from God: Lauren, Hank, Rachel and Riley.
Kim’s heartbeat in ministry is for people to be drawn into intimate relationship with Jesus, hear His voice, and step out daily into whatever He asks of them. Through such full surrender, she believes lives will be transformed, and God's kingdom purposes unleashed.
Kim served the Lord for many years through a military lay ministry, Protestant Women of the Chapel International, serving as its President from 2004 to 2006 and Senior Advisor from 2006 to 2008. She has yet to decide which presents the greater challenge: leading 9,000 women or serving as gatekeeper to our Rector!

Lisa Rider
Assistant to Children's Ministry and Worship Arts
772-4915
|
A Yankee at heart, Lisa has enjoyed calling the Roanoke Valley home for the past five years. After close to twenty years as a home- schooling mom, Lisa joined the staff of Church of the Holy Spirit two years ago. Working with the Worship Arts and Children’s Ministries has been a true blessing.
Lisa has been married to Bill for 27 years. Together, they have five children: Dayna, Joel, Sierra, Robert, and Cheyenna, and one granddaughter, Montana- who may be one of the cutest babies ever!
Lisa’s hobbies include writing, reading a good book, spoiling her dog and cat, and teaching youth the joy of serving the Lord through puppets. Lisa’s favorite verses include Isaiah 26:3, Isaiah 41:10, and Jeremiah 29:11. As we walk through life, seeking God and God alone, we can trust that He is faithfully upholding us with His righteous right hand, offering perfect peace because His plans for us are far greater than what we could ever imagine!

Elaine Spencer
Church Secretary
772-4915
|
Born in Massachusetts, but “born again” in Virginia, Elaine has been growing in love with the Lord Jesus since 1976. “Home” is Virginia where Elaine lives with her husband of 35 years, Bob, and where they also raised their two sons, Robert and Tim. Now married, the family has expanded to add two daughters-in-law, Christy and Lauren, and two grandchildren, Isaac and Ryan. Life is busy and full as Elaine and Bob travel to northern Virginia and Maryland to keep up the family ties.
Some things Elaine loves are: hiking the National Forests, playing guitar, her two Scottish Terriers, and studying the Bible. Her life verse is Psalm 119:105: “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path.”

Ginny Arrington
Church Secretary
772-4915
|
Ginny has lived in Roanoke all her life. One of six children, she grew up in a close-knit family whose Irish-Catholic roots insured a strong faith, much laughter and animated conversation, and a love for music. Ginny and husband Vic have been married for 20 years and have a son, Andrew. The roost is ruled by their other two “children,” cats Oreo and Caty. Two parakeets and numerous fish complete the Arrington household.
A relaxing evening at home watching TV or reading is Ginny's idea of bliss. She also enjoys listening to just about all kinds of music and spending time with family and friends. Ginny is thrilled to be working among such wonderful people of faith at CHS, where she has been employed since August, 2004.
